Quick Start

I’ve been trying to find ways to save time in the morning, and make more time to go for a quick run. I’m already in the habit of waking up before the sun rises; but I somehow never seem to have enough time to enjoy breakfast. I usually eat breakfast in the car, on the way to school or clinicals.

My solution to my time dilemma…preparing breakfast the night before.

Here is a jar of Soaking Oats. It sounds weird, but trust me, they’re great! No more partially cooked oats, eaten hastily on the way to school. Soaking oats overnight makes for a super fluffy bowl of oatmeal. Making them is a snap, and they can be microwaved while I’m in the shower. Bonus!

Here’s an eyeball recipe:

1/2 cup of Rolled or Steel cut oats (not the instant kind)

1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar

1/4 cup of half & half or milk

1/4 cup of water

Place in a container and give a shake. Leave in refrigerator overnight.

Microwave for 1-2 minutes

*top with whatever suits your fancy. I love using berries and walnuts.

Enjoy!

Fall-ing into it

Lately I feel like I’m reeling into an endless fall. What with the craziness of school, holding down a job, and trying to make time for friends and family. Let’s not mention adjusting to living on a student’s budget…uuggghhh! I didn’t even get to partake in the Missoni Madness at Target! (Major Pouting face)

Well, I’m just hoping that sucking it up for a couple of years, as a broke-ass student, will pay off. Maybe I’ll score a for real deal Missoni piece. Like this

And yes…preferably vintage!

One thing I will gladly fall into are the flavors of  Fall. I’m brainstorming on a few things “pumpkin”.

The recipe seems simple enough; however, I’d probably nix the dried cherries. I most certainly would remix them with a dried cranberries-in homage to Thanksgiving dinner, and maybe play with adding nuts. I’d also try them with whole wheat flour.

Of course Fall wouldn’t be Fall without a fire and a good beer! I’m looking forward to a good and spicy Pumpkin ale…
