I know someone who LOVES the tail ends of shrimp. She says it’s the best part. I can’t get there. I do love crispy fried fish tails! So, maybe I can relate.
The tail end of vacation week was certainly the best part. I drove to Charleston to meet Husby and the family. There’s nothing like being greeted at the door by two little ewoks.

The plan was to have dinner at EVO. It was AMAZING! The Pistachio Pesto Pizza was out of this world…flavor was like no other. The Specials board featured a House Mac & Cheese. Ungodly good! They also featured a fig appetizer. I am not big on figs; but this salad was unforgettable. The figs were barely ripe, so they were a little on the tart side; but the olive oil and finely shaved cheese made it all meld together. The beer menu was killer! I had the Holy City “Washout” whitbier and RJ Rockers “Son of A Peach”. Both were great summer seasonals. I can’t wait to find them up here.
Excuse the shoddy photo quality…
Saturday was birthday lunch date at the Tattooed Moose. It’s a divey-ish, bar with a “too cool for you” hipster vibe. Whatevs! The Duck comfit club was a show stopper. Yeah, I know it sounds super rich; but really wasn’t! Their fries are also fried in duck fat…uh-huh. They also have their interpretation of my beloved Banh Mi sandwich. Good effort; but once you’ve had an authentic banh mi, interpretations are feeble. Since it was my “official” birthday, I had to have a pre-nooner beverage. It was super cold and super yummy!
The day ended with two more sweet surprises. This birthday basket was waiting for me on Friday…filled with Asian goodies! My family knows me soooo well.

I found this in the bottom of it on Saturday.
Then came the waterworks. This bracelet is a piece of Husby’s family history. I’m honored to own it. I’m terrified to wear it.
We followed the waterworks with this.
Vanilla cake with whipped frosting. Seriously, they know me! I’m flattered.
Turning 37 ain’t so bad when you have tons of love in your life.
